CANTO IX is a three-channel video game installation inspired by Dante Alighieri's description of angels and their avatar-like relationship to god.

Interact with CANTO IX CHAT by typing messages to an angel avatar, whose body physics can be altered by strings of words that frequently appear in self- help articles. Positive statements will give the angel stability and negative statements will cause its geometry to collapse. Enough mixed messages tangle the angel into an indeterminate mess.
CANTO IX BATTLE
Interact with CANTO IX BATTLE with WASD using arrow keys on a custom keyboard. Violent, dizzying, and erotic, these tumbling angels allude to smashing action figures together as a kid, playing fighting games as an adult, and competing with anonymous gamers online.
CANTO IX APARTMENT
CANTO IX Apartment is based on the space lived in, and the way I felt at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. Use arrow keys on a custom keyboard to help this angel tumble around or throw a stretchy tantrum alone in an apartment with no exit door.
